Transforming Anganwadis into Smart Learning Spaces: Empowering India’s Early Learners
Smart Experiential Anganwadi
"The first space a child learns in shapes the rest of their life. A joyful Anganwadi can change a child’s world."
In many parts of India, the first learning space a child enters is a small Anganwadi — a place where the foundation of lifelong learning quietly begins. At Respire Experiential Learning, we’ve turned these humble spaces into vibrant worlds of discovery.
Respire Experiential Learning has transformed traditional centres into vibrant, interactive learning spaces designed for every child’s early learning journey. From the hills of Meghalaya to the mining towns of Jharkhand, from the tribal belts of Gujarat to rural Madhya Pradesh, and extending towards new regions across India, our journey continues to bring experiential, inclusive, and joyful early learning to more communities every year.

A Space Where Learning Comes Alive
The foundation of a child’s lifelong learning begins long before school. Through our Smart Anganwadi model, we combine infrastructure development, toy-based learning, and teacher empowerment to align with the goals of NEP 2020 and NIPUN Bharat’s Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) mission. Each centre is thoughtfully designed using the BaLA (Building as Learning Aid) concept, where walls, floors, and furniture themselves become tools for learning. Children don’t just sit and listen—they observe, touch, play, and explore.

How Respire Transforms an Anganwadi
1. Child-Friendly Infrastructure – Spaces that Invite Learning
Every transformation begins with creating a space where children feel safe, happy, and eager to learn. Respire redesigns Anganwadis to feel like second homes — bright, secure, and full of life. Each center is thoughtfully planned with child-height furniture, soft flooring, and rounded corners to ensure safety and comfort. Natural light and ventilation make the environment healthy and cheerful, while play corners and reading nooks invite curiosity and exploration. The use of vibrant colors and thematic walls turns every classroom into a joyful, child-centered world where learning begins the moment a child steps inside.

Every Smart Anganwadi designed by Respire Experiential Learning is more than a classroom — it’s a canvas of learning. Using the BaLA (Building as Learning Aid) concept, we transform walls, floors, and furniture into powerful tools that teach, inspire, and engage.
Each surface becomes a learning experience for curious little minds:
- Alphabets A–Z painted with colorful visuals for early English learning.
- Varnamala (स्वर–व्यंजन) walls for joyful bilingual literacy.
- Shapes & Colors that children can touch, trace, and recognize through play.
- Number Line 1–100 that turns counting into movement and fun.
- Days & Months displayed with bright charts and interactive art.
- Dinosaur Height Chart, where children proudly measure their growth.
Every corner is designed with purpose — from reading nooks beneath tree murals to playful patterns around windows that teach balance and symmetry.
The result is a space where design itself becomes the teacher, nurturing imagination, language, logic, and confidence — all before formal schooling even begins.
3. Learning Kits & Play Materials – Learning by Doing
Play is a child’s most natural form of learning. Respire introduces a range of experiential and STEM-aligned learning kits that cover early literacy, numeracy, environmental awareness, and fine-motor development. Every toy, puzzle, and manipulative is designed to make children touch, move, build, and discover. Through activities like sorting, matching, counting, and storytelling, children develop curiosity and critical thinking skills that form the foundation of lifelong learning.
4.Smart Learning Tools – Blending Play with Innovation
To make early learning more dynamic, our Smart Anganwadis include digital and audio-visual learning aids. Sound-learning boards, interactive puzzles, and tactile learning tools help children associate words, sounds, and visuals.Technology becomes an assistant — not a replacement — for creativity. It supports teachers and children in connecting lessons to real-life experiences in fun, memorable ways.
5.Teacher Training & Capacity Building – Empowering Educators
Transformation is sustainable only when educators grow with it.
Respire conducts structured on-site and digital training programs for Anganwadi workers and supervisors, focusing on joyful pedagogy, foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN), and toy-based learning.
Teachers gain confidence in designing interactive sessions and using learning materials effectively. The result — classrooms filled with energy, innovation, and meaningful engagement.
